    Happy (early) 2018 to everyone!

It's time to STEP UP and stop relying on Charlie Lee!

    Posted: 31 Dec 2017 01:38 AM PST

We as a community should start pushing litecoin forward in a decentralized way. Why are we always waiting for Charlie to say something 'positive' in a tweet or to give us an 'update' ? From my observation, I have to admit 95% of this community are spineless, weak and are here to be 'made rich' by Charlie. No offence but this is the sad truth. Most of you guys/gals want to be carried off into the sunset with a few mill in your back pockets. Well the sad truth is that WONT happen just because you hodl litecoin. We have to work for litecoin to succeed and in time we will be rewarded financially but the aim of the game is to change the world with litecoin at the forefront of this impending revolution. So lets start promoting litecoin, encouraging large scale adoption by lobbying retailers and lets start pushing litecoin into a direction which suits the larger litecoin community. This coin was created by Charlie Lee but it will have to exist based on its own merit not solely on Charlie Lee's tweets/announcements. And it is our responsibility as a community to make litecoin the best cryptocurrency out there.

    History repeating itself

Amazing to see how predictable people are this time of the year. Exhibit A, this post from 3 years ago where 50% of comments are a) castigating Charlie for selling his stake and bemoaning a bubble while the other 50% are b) holding and not worrying about it.

Just STFU, log off your computer for a few weeks, and we'll see you in 2018.

Charlie Lee won't step away from Litecoin until he helps it climb back to the next ATH

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 05:10 PM PST

Finally jumped aboard. Now to just leave it alone for a while.

Im excited to see where litecoin is headed. IMO litecoin is the better crypto compared to bitcoin and people will soon realize that. 2018 is the year of litecoin. LETS GOOO!

Had a 2 week gap between my last job and my new job so I made it a goal to learn iOS development and get an app published on the App Store, thus Coin Trade Alerts was born

    Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:13 AM PST

    http://cointradealerts.com/

    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/coin-trade-alerts/id1329306758?ls=1&mt=8

It's a pretty simple app really. You create a view only API key, plug it into the app, add your phone number, and then you never have to open the app again. It will send you a text message when your orders fill. (It will work for all GDAX products, not just LTC!)

    Here's exactly how it works:

    1) Generate view only API key (this allows the app to read your completed orders).

    2) Provide your phone number/carrier (so I can build your contact email i.e 123456790@txt.att.net)

    3) The app will make a request every 60 seconds and record the number of completed orders you have in a database. Every time it checks, it will see if there's a difference in the numbers. If there is, it will build a message with information from that many of your most recent fills (something like buy: X TICKER at $Y total: $Z)

I originally wrote most of the backend Python of this a few months ago and I've been running it on my Raspberry PI and sending me a text when my limit orders fill. The main reason why I wrote this is because I thought it was something crucial that other services didn't offer, and being a Software Engineer I could do quite easily. A bunch of my coworkers who were also into trading cryptocurrency on GDAX really wanted to use it so initially I was just giving them the code but then I decided that since i've always wanted to have an app under my name on the App Store and learn Swift, this would be the perfect opportunity.

I have all of the code publicly visible on my Github HERE! The backend API is a flask web server running on an AWS EC2 Instance. The Database is an AWS RDS MySQL database. I've been using Flask for about 2 years and I never really thought that it could be practical for iOS development. It really surprised me how well it worked.

Although my code is publicly visible and I am only reading your completed orders, there is obviously a trust level required on your end to give me the API key. Nobody here knows who I am and I fully understand that!

If you provide anything more than VIEW ONLY your API key CAN be used to transfer your money/coins and steal them.

If anyone does not feel comfortable doing so, you are more than welcome to use the previous version of this code and run it locally on your machine. This means that you are entering your API credentials locally on your own machine.

I am in the process of building out the website, which will include instructions as to how to do the above.

Prediction: The same people berating @SatoshiLite for selling will soon be asking creators of all coins they hold to gradually step away, once they realize the value in an open source project not having a leader. These aren't corporations folks. Welcome to the new paradigm!

Charlie Lee this, Charlie Lee that...

    Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:45 AM PST

Every second post is about Charlie Lee, can we stop mentioning him already? Jesus Christ on a bike...

Drives me insane to leave this subreddit and come back a week later to the exact same posts about Charlie Lee on the front page.

Do we even have moderators on this sub?

    Disgusted at all the haters.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 11:55 PM PST

I go away for the evening and return to see a whole mass of tweets hating on our boy /u/coblee. I used to think online games were toxic... this shit takes the cake. It's honestly repulsive to see how a selfless and cool dude brings us a truly valuable and awesome coin that actually works, only to receive so much negativity.

/u/coblee, if you're reading this, just step away from twitter, or at the very least ignore all the negative tweets. I know you must have a thick skin by now, but this stuff will get to you eventually. Move on and keep doing what you're doing knowing that the majority of us support your decisions and are thankful for what you've thus far. Thanks again <3.

To say @SatoshiLite selling is like a CEO selling their shares is to miss the point of what open source is. If a CEO holding shares to a closed source corporation makes those shares more valuable, I wonder if the opposite would hold true to the value of an open source project?

    Posted: 31 Dec 2017 12:22 AM PST

@loshan1211: FYI: Charlie is not stepping down as soon at the price hits $400. Anyone saying so is spreading FUD.

How could we help get litecoin integrated into smaller markets

    Posted: 31 Dec 2017 11:03 AM PST

Just from my particular niche of interests i know that of two smaller marketplaces than ebay/amazon. The two im thinking of are grailed.com (2nd hand fashion and hyped streetwear) and reverb.com (musical instruments). Like can it be an email campaign to their market places? Its just a small way to look toward the future and how the community can help steer.

I transferred my ltc from poloniex to coinbase yesterday. It says complete in Poloniex but never received to coinbase. Did it happen to anyone? What should I do? Raised a support ticket with both exchanges and waiting for an answer. Thanks in advance.

    2018 will be Litecoin's year.

    Posted: 30 Dec 2017 04:20 PM PST

Rewind to the beginning of 2017. All over the internet, "bitcoin" this, "bitcoin" that.. people were referring to cryptocurrency as a whole as "bitcoin". Thousands upon thousands of people joining the market, doing their cryptocurrency studying, trying to figure out how all of this really works. A lot of them possibly opening accounts on different exchanges, testing them out, a bit skeptical about all of this; basically, a monkey messing, picking around trying to learn how to do this stuff. A s#!t ton of people "testing the waters".

"Bitcoin" had all of the spotlight this year, and rightfully so. But now, things are changing. Bitcoin has become a hassle to be moving around from place to place. High fees, slow speeds, and the thing is - people are starting to realize this.

With so many new people to the market (including myself), people look for next alternative. Which other coin is very popular, listed on pretty much every exchange (major!), has an actual working product (not just all speculation), has a great team behind it with vision who are transparent in their doings to the public [even though a lot of people complain about this transparency, which is very stupid and tbh more people should be doing], MUCH cheaper and faster to send around than Bitcoin. The Litecoin team has been on their grind constantly making every update they can to make this coin better- implementing segwit, lightning network, etc... they're getting work done and really trying to make this a beast of a coin.

2018 will be the year the early majority will already have a basic understanding of the market, the major coins in play, which ones are reliable for actual daily use and which are not. By this point, they've realized there's a lot more to crypto than just "bitcoin". I have an extremely good feeling that Litecoin will become a huge player, more than it currently is, as Bitcoin's successor for everyday use and transactions in 2018. It just makes perfect sense to me IMO.

People may have FUD saying there are other altcoins that could possibly surpass litecoin, but, at the moment Litecoin is still one of the largest players in alt-coins. Most of those coins people mention are only on a small amount of exchanges, many are not even properly functioning, only have their whitepapers for you to read and are based on a lot of speculation. Litecoin on the other hand has been around for years and is in the here, now, with a lot of positive speculated news coming out in the future.

Anyways, I've made my decision. Throughout all the negativity and FUD surrounding the crypto world nowadays, I hope people come to their senses soon.
