Is dualmining easy and problemfree? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:37 AM PST So ive got a rig on the way with 3 1060's 3GB, plan was to buy 3 more 1060's, but I have been curious about dual mining, and was thinking of buying 3 either RX 570 or RX 580, to diversify my mining. So one could maybe be doing Ethereum, and another one Cryptonight. What software have you guys used? Is it pretty easy and problemfree? [link] [comments]
Application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware ( Posted: 31 Dec 2017 06:05 AM PST I've reset all my cpu and memory OC to 0, set the max power to 75 and the max power to 65, reset benchmarks and reset profitability and still get this with some of the more profitable algos... Here's a screenshot of the benchmarking with Notifications displaying Here is the text from the Event Viewer for each application that has failed:
Application Log:
Configuration: CPU: Intel Celeron 3930 Windows Defender: Disabled Other than disabling the Equihash-DSTM and EWBF miners and just going with NiceHash Excavator, what else can I do? I was hoping at the very least going to 0 overclocking would prevent the crashing. [link] [comments]
No display with 1 pcie 16 gpu and 1 (or more) pcie 1 gpu Posted: 31 Dec 2017 05:32 AM PST Hello, I am currently in a strange situation, I have stuff for a rig with all my olds GPU but I can not have screen display when I use more than one gpu. I have 1 pcie 16 and 3 pcie 1 on my motherboard. My main gpu is on pcie 16 and the others are on pcie 1 with 16 to 1 adapter. I'm able to work alone with the main board, but as soon as I try to use one of the pcie 1 slots, I have no display, no matter what gpu is connected to the monitor. Everything else works well. Any idea where it might come from? Specs: motherboard: asrock h110 pro gpus: 1 gtx750ti (main), 3 gf 7600 gt os: Windows 7 Power supply: 2x 500w [link] [comments]

A Few Questions for My First Rig Posted: 31 Dec 2017 08:19 AM PST Hello, I have been doing my research and have read all the info in the sidebar but I am just looking to have a few more questions answered. I currently have a 4 desktop mining setup that's making about $11 a day. I just picked up a 390x and I don't have another computer to throw this in so it's time to make a mining rig. I have a r9 290x, 390x and 2 270x's. Also a 1060gb but I don't want to mess with mixed mining. I am trying to find a budget mining motherboard and stumbled across this eBay posting https://m.ebay.com/itm/6pcs-Mining-Motherboard-6-GPU-PCI-E-Extender-Riser-Card-For-Crypto-Miners/182945088146 I have searched this sub and can't find anyone who has purchased it yet. Would this be a decent route to go? I will build my own open case to fit everything so I feel solid there. My only other question is in regards to the power supplies. I'm a bit blurry on the proper way to power every card? I don't know if it's better to buy two PSU's or one large PSU. Do you need adapters for sata to 6 pin/8 pin? I'd rather not as I hate powering GPU'S with adapters. Thanks! [link] [comments]
How much does your sol rate vary? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:34 AM PST I have a MSI Gaming X 1080ti running stock and my sol rate varies from about 490-560. Do you guys get a constant sol rate or does it also jump about a lot? [link] [comments]
Question about 8 pin from PSU to 8 pin x2 multiple GPUs Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:31 AM PST Hello, I'm more of a software guy and sometimes the hardware stuff gets overlooked. I scanned this sub carefully and avoided the common pitfalls like sata-powered risers and multiple PSU powering for 6+ cards. However, I can't seem to find any good documentation on if it's okay to power two 8 Pin GPUs from the 8 pin to 2x 8 pin that came with my PSU. I'm currently using the cables to power 2 cards (GTX 1070s) each for over a month with seemingly no problems. However, I know from this sub and at the expense of others' misfortune that "working" does not always imply "correct" or "safe" Here's a pic.. A query of the cards through nvidia-smi tells me that they're each pulling just below 120 watts each. Is this safe/okay? What should my concerns be? AMD Rig is unstable, need help figuring out why Posted: 31 Dec 2017 07:21 AM PST Hello, This past fall I started building a mining rig in my off time at college. and I need some help. The rig consists of:
I used to use Nicehash because of its convenience and ignorance, until the hack. I've since learned how to use Multi Pool Hub running the Multi Pool Miner. The issue I have is when running MPM I cannot get the rig to stay running for more than 3 hours or so. Sometimes it'll black screen after only 20 minutes of running, sometimes it'll just restart after a few hours randomly. Overheating is not an issue, I've made sure they're all running at about 65 degrees. Also running just Claymores mining electroneum on its own, it has never shut down. I have reinstalled new graphics drivers countless times, I have turned off windows updates, vram is increased, even reinstalled Windows. What about my rig could be making this a pain for me? A Friendly Nvidia GTX 1060 Rig Claymore Help Guide. Posted: 31 Dec 2017 01:08 AM PST I'm posting this mainly for those with Windows 10, Running Claymore, With Gtx1060 cards. Same could possibly apply for other Nvidia cards as well. Ive come to notice that the Nvidia Gtx1060 3Gb in this day of crazy GPU costs, is a powerful little card. But setting it up to run claymore on Win10 is incredibly tedious. Im using 6 gtx1060s with an MSI Z270 pro mobo. You'll want to do these in this order to get it to run well.
-tstop 0 -tt 0 -Wd 1 -R 0 You'll notice getting it to boot with all 6 connected reliably can be a pain during the entire process. Just stick to it. Move you mouse and tap some keys immeadiately at boot, i noticed this helps complete the boot. Specific questions, ask. Its been brutal, but its worth it. +650 mem clock on afterburner and my 3gb cards are giving me about 24MHS ea with sam mem. [link] [comments]
What is the actual use of whattomine.com? Do you use it, and if so - how? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 06:12 PM PST I recently built my first mining rig, and at the time of designing it I figured nicehash would be what I'd use it for. Then nicehash went belly up, and so after I built the rig a spent a while mining ethereum and more recently zen and zclassic. Now that nicehash is back I find myself less certain than ever what would be the best thing to do with my rig. Following whattomine.com for just a day makes it obvious that the 'best thing to mine' changes constantly. Even if you were to try and cash out and change what you mine once a day (which often wouldn't be realistic due to pool minimum withdrawal amounts) at the end of the day it might turn out you would have better spent your time mining something else. So what do most people do? Just stick to 1 coin hoping it will still be valuable after some period of time when they choose to cash out? Mine ethereum since it's the 'gold standard' mining altcoin and generally holds/goes up over time, even though it's almost never the "most profitable"? Switch coins based on what whattomine.com says on some time interval/split up their rigs? Use nicehash or another simplification mining system which gives you constant payouts for your mining equipment? [link] [comments]

Neoscript miner? Nsgminer isn't working for multipools Posted: 31 Dec 2017 04:51 AM PST Hello, I'm trying to figure out how to mine a few coins using the Neoscrypt algorithm. The first available miner that showed up was nsgminer. The coins I'm trying to mine are only available in multipools. When I run the program using this line: nsgminer --neoscrypt -o stratum+tcp://pool.CryptoPros.us:4233 -u WalletAddress -p c=CRC I get a variation of this error: Pool 0 is sending mismatched block contents to us (0 is not 1-1) I've tried using sgminer but I also get errors with multipools. Identify which GPU is connected to which PCie slot Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:31 PM PST Is there a way to identify which GPU is connected to which PCIE, that way i know which one is performing the poorest. I have 8 GPU rig running and i know GPUZ orders them the same as Claymore does but i don't know which GPU is which one. The Asus Z270p board i have doesn't have anything in the manual about this. Posted: 31 Dec 2017 03:18 AM PST Hello fellow redditors! This time i picked up a cheap RX 580 (XFX GTS XXX model with 4GBs of Elpida memory) and experimented with it. Prior to this i had read online and around different websites that its performance was shite and that you were lucky to hash more than 24MHs @140w. I decided to try this anyways since the card (for me) was dirt cheap and i could do a little upgrade to my little mining rig. I received the package a few days later and started experimenting with it. STOCK RESULTS: 21MH/s @130w, no special setting in the driver or any overclock. Wasn't really surprised, since this was what i was expecting from the online reviews i has read. I so decided to do some basic optimization: AMD Optimize for Compute, a little memory overclock and a little core downclock. 2ND RESULTS: 24.3 MHs @120w That was utter shite, and i was losing my hope of actually getting this thing to work. I set off then to find a bios mod, but after a quick search online i saw that nobody had even uploaded one. The only 2 threads talking about this card had the owners returning them for a refund. I found out that there was a switch near the 8pin connector of the card, yet switching it didn't give me any performance gains i hadn't already reached with an overclock. I wasn't really keen on returning the card, so i started reading about various techniques of bios modding, and ended up doing a basic bios mod, copying timings from the 1500 line all up to 2000. 3RD RESULT: 27.7MH/s @120w This was much better than anything i had read online, but power consumption was far too high. I proceded to do a basic undervolting, 900 mv on the memory and a 2 decrease on the core (65286). I also underclocked the core @1100mhz 4TH RESULT: 27MHs @100w This wasn't that good either. I delved deeper in the overclocking forums (huge shoutout to those guys) and found a set of tools for BIOS modding RX 4xx and 5xx cards( MAIN THREAD http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/polaris-bios-editing-rx5xx-rx4xx). I got very interested in a specific tool, called R_Timings, which supposedly decompiled memory straps and gave you the raw values to easily modify. LINK: http://www.overclock.net/t/1629357/r-timings-encode-decode-rx-r9-memory-straps So i decided to decompile my stock hex strap together with a popular performance timing strap, the famous UBER MIX 3.2. I decompiled both, changed the stock strap to the UBER MIX values and recompiled it. Added the new strap to the bios and flashed it 5TH RESULT: 30.3 MHs @100w This was very good, i was extremely impressed. I checked HW info for 24hrs straight and had 0 EDC memory errors. Hashrate was stable and power consumption fluctuated between 100w to a 105w. Since i pay quite a lot for energy electricity i decided to go full powersave. POWERSAVE RESULT: 29MHs @84w This is what i'm currently using, with a 1100 core clock with a 65285 undervolt and a 1975mhz memory overclock with a 900mv undervolt. NOTICE 1: Anything over 2150 makes the card crash, AND 2150 puts out around 3million errors per second. 2000 is ok, with only a few errors every hour, but 1975 is the best for me. So these cards aren't good at all when it comes to overclocking. NOTICE 2: I do not take any responsibility for any damage made to your cards by bios modding. Always take a backup of your stock bios, remember that you can also use the switch to dual bios and always have a working bios on your card. NOTICE 3: PBE (Polaris Bios Editor) one click timing patch didn't perform correctly, it gave me around 27 MH/s but it was very unstable. I think this is one of the main reasons that these cards are considered not good. Happy modding! [link] [comments]
Can a mining rig be used for gaming too? Posted: 31 Dec 2017 02:28 AM PST Hey guys... Bit of a noob question here, but I'm wondering whether its possible to use a typical mining rig for gaming too? Don't get me wrong - I know that it's technically possible (after all, most of the original btc miners got started on their home computers), but is there something about the way a typical mining rig is architected that makes it unsuitable for gaming, or is there a natural overlap? Reason I'm asking is that I've wanted to get a high end gaming PC for a while (mainly to screw around with the Oculus and/or Vive), but could never really justify the cost. If I could mine Monero with it while I wasn't gaming, it might make a little more financial sense. [link] [comments]

What coin are you currently mining and why? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 11:48 PM PST Hi guys, Wanted to start a thread to find out what are people mining these days? I'll start off by saying that I currently have a 8x Vega 56 card rig and mining Monero as well as Intensecoin. Thanks and happy mining! [link] [comments]
Is nicehash better to do then pick individual coins? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 03:58 PM PST I'm honestly curious what everyone does here. I been using nicehash with my two GTX1070s and averaging about $8 a day. I don't see any really small projects that are really worth mining since I could just use my earning to buy more then the time it would take to mine. Honestly curious how everyone does it. Now if you have a 6 gpu rig is it more worth mining the smaller coins because you have more power? So higher chance of finding the blocks on those networks. [link] [comments]
Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:20 PM PST Hey I am trying to find what power supply I should go for on a 4x 1080ti build. I figured I should get something 1200W-1300W but the atx power supplies are either insanely expensive or wouldn't have enough connectors (8+6 for each card). Should I look into a server psu? I've seen a few people recommend this for larger builds. Can I just use 1/2 of the modules for effectively 1300W? [link] [comments]
Can you connect usb risers to a pcie usb 3.0 expansion card Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:03 PM PST I'm having trouble fining some answers to a couple of questions I have. I'm curious if the risers are simply using usb 3.0 to send data or if there is more going on here? If this is what's going on would it be possible to use a pcie to 4 usb 3.0 card, then run 4 risers off those. If so would it be possible to run 2 rc508 in a b250 board with with 2 pcie x16 slots. In theory this would allow at least 8 gpu per board, more if running linux. Is this a possible solution or is there something special about dedicate 1 to 4 pcie splitters? [link] [comments]
Nvidia: Simple Mining OS vs Other Options Posted: 30 Dec 2017 10:09 AM PST Has anyone done any recent testing/comparisons for Nvidia between Simple Mining OS and other managers? Simple Mining OS looks like the best from an "operations" perspective: manage rigs through web, no Windows, no need for keyboard/monitor, etc. However, I have a really hard time finding any information about SMOS, especially its Nvidia variant. I couldn't find any documentation on SMOS anywhere. Please link me if I'm wrong. My rig: I have 3 1080tis and two 1070s. I just started last week, I'm currently testing to compare NiceHash and AwesomeMiner/MPH.
Thanks. [link] [comments]
How will Volta and Tensor shape the future of mining? Posted: 30 Dec 2017 05:18 PM PST Hello, kind folks of gpumining! We all know Jensen's famous quote, "cryptocurrencies are here to stay". They're already producing mining GPUs (actually, complete mining rigs, too) without display connectors. Though I can't see a single reason for anyone to pick up those, but several reasons not to:
The Volta architecture sure seems like an exciting milestone. It'll have GDDR6 for consumer cards, HBM2 for pro, and a 12 nm process size. Former is exciting due to the fact that the current GPU mining algos are, from what I understand, ASIC-resistant thanks to VRAM intensive designs (FIXME), the latter is because of improved power efficiency. This alone makes Volta look like a totally must-have miner upgrade when the mainstream models get a release. But what concerns me the most is the the Tensor cores. One has to wonder, will it be possible to dramatically speed up current mining algos with those units? Will some beautiful bastard come up with such a thing? Or is this impossible on the architectural level? 100 TFLOPS sure sounds crazy. But I really can't find a good explanation as to what a Tensor core will actually be capable of, other than "AI stuff" and whether that can be applied to mining in any way or not. If Volta can speed up current algos by say, 100%, I can imagine 2 things, perhaps at the same time:
It's really hard to predict what'll come up next, but I'd be eager to hear your predictions. All we know so far is that the Titan V wipes the floor with the Titan Xp. And it's disturbing, to say the least. This is right after the release, without any optimizations. Heck, actually, it's not even released yet, only showcased. So what is it? The 33% more CUDA cores? The 19% increased memory bandwidth? Or what else? Boost clock is even lower on the V. Shirley, it must be something fundamentally more efficient under the hood, right? Will it come down to mainstream models though? So many variables, so many unknowns. So fellas, prediction time! [link] [comments] |
