I got fed up with cries of "Tulip Mania" so I'm making cryptulips.co, its CryptoKitties, but with Tulips.

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 11:19 AM PST

    Hey r/ethereum!

So I've been HODL-ing for a long time, and I've recently gotten into Solidity development. Shit's dope.

The long and short of this project is that I got sick and tired of people telling me that the bullish Cryptocurrency market we're in was analogous the the 1600's Tulip Mania.

So to make fun of these people I created cryptulips.co. Which is basically CryptoKitties, but with tulips. Allowing people to trade, grow, breed, and sell unique digital tulips that live forever on the blockchain.

If you signup I'll keep you in the loop on the development (when it's on ropsten, main network, etc) and give you first crack at gen0 tulips.

I just posted this the other day on r/ethtrader and it went crazy!

Cryptulips is primarily a joke, but I hope it'll be a fun learning experience and that it will ruffle the feathers of some of the old economic guard.

If you think it's funny, or interesting please holler at me and sign up!

tl;dr I'm making CryptoKitties for Tulips to make fun of naysayers

How can we put a relief on this transaction fee pressure on the biggest cryptos Right Now?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:45 PM PST

It seems like transaction fees are exploding, especially tonight in the bigger crypto currencies at least.

    https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactionfees-btc-eth-bch-ltc.html#3m

for comparison. Transaction fees for the biggest 4 Cryptocurrencies seem to grow exponential.

Average transaction cost in the past 3 weeks. From early December to today -->

    ETH : 0.20$ to 1.40$ (increase of 7x).

    SegWit Coin : 6$ to 55$ (almost 10x)

    Litecoin : 0.16$ to 1.50$ (10x)

BCH : stayed in the low 0.20$-0.30$ (blocks are not full yet, but the usability is also limited still)

This is a MAJOR problem right now. If this spreads to the general public that all big crypto coins ar going to be marked/connected with:

    a) HIGH fees (higher the all traditional paymentsystems and sometimes slower then wire transfers)

    b) Super wasteful from a environment point of view. The Bitcoin Prove of Work system alone is consuming more electricity then all the people in Denmark (over 5 Million).

I am worried that this could throw back the progress and also the general interest in crypto by quiet a lot...

So how are we going to approach this issue? Are there any solutions we could implement in the near future to give the crypto world a relief and space to grow?

Some might say, just use altcoins but the places and therefor ways you can use them is very limited...

1.50$ per transaction on ETH doesn't seem crazy yet. But these fees are exponentially growing and could reach +20$ much sooner then most people expect.

Therefor I think we need solutions right now or the momentum cryptos in general have build will stall rapidly. It's a natural wall we are standing in front.

    Bought Ether, it never showed!

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 05:02 PM PST

I bought Ethereum on Coinbase on December 4 and the transaction says it will arrive on December 12th. Well... it's the 21st and nothing in my wallet! The transaction history says the bank charge was completed and the money was withdrawn from my account. Coinbase isn't responding to emails...

Anybody else have this issue? How did you resolve it?

Would appreciate your advice on a project I have been working on

    Posted: 21 Dec 2017 06:31 AM PST

Hello, I have been working on a project about cryptocurrencies, Ethereum in particular. My goal is to explain what cryptocurrencies are and why they are so promising in a way that makes it easy to understand cryptocurrencies for someone who has never heard of cryptocurrencies before yet sophisticated enough to keep things interesting for people who have at least some knowledge of cryptocurrencies.

The most important part of this project is explaining the underlying technology of cryptocurrencies, but I am not sure how to properly split this part up into smaller parts.

I was thinking about splitting this part up into these (smaller) parts:

    -What is a blockchain?

    -What is m1ning* (POW)

    -Proof-of-stake (POS)

-What cryptography is used to secure the network?

    -Smart contracts

Do you think this covers everything someone needs to know to understand how cryptocurrencies work? Or am I missing something? And how would you split this part up into (smaller) parts?

    I appreciate all help.
