Adam Back says Bitcoin businesses should use a "tab" instead of settling transactions on-chain. Bitcoin Cash can scale today, and businesses can settle transactions on-chain.

The Blocksteam scaling solution: bedazzle users with jargon

Shower thought: If I use $100k btc as currency for daily life expenditures I will lose $40k in transaction fees.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 06:12 AM PST

It just hit me, if I hold $100k in btc and want to use it as cash then I would lose 30-50% of it. In every day life my transactions vary between $5-$50. If for such transactions I have to pay $5-$20 transaction fee every time it means I'd be paying in total 30-40% in transaction fees in the end when I spend my $100k. So segwitcoin is really inconvenient as a currency and anyone holding it cannot really engage in minitransaction but must sell it all at once or none. People are literally stuck with btc, and if they decide to sell it all it will be a unidirectional flow from the poorest to the richest (who can afford to buy large chunks at once) and the entire btc will slowly be in the hands of fewer and fewer people. The entire hodl thing could have well been pr ploy to cover this up. It's not that people are holding, they simply have no choice.

Bitcoin Feel Threatened by Bitcoin Cash and You Know Why

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 05:09 PM PST

"Fees will drop when everyone uses Lightning Networks" is the new "Fees will drop when SegWit is activated"

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 10:46 AM PST

Adding support for Lightning Network is expensive and risky. The white paper is 59 pages long -- where Bitcoin is 9 pages. Complexity is liability.

    https://lightning.network/lightning-network-paper.pdf 2017-12-02T18:45:57+00:00 sha256sum:12e5094fa9c8342b9575e4c029c4cdf13aa33350b7c4a77472ec7a1b1a2b3fb8

It has some laughable economics, like claiming that transaction fees are high because mining hardware is expensive.

Adam: How are merchants supposed to deal with the high Bitcoin fees?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 09:53 AM PST

Tabs do not work as they are interest free loans with counter-party risk - better to settle with cash.

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 06:34 PM PST

According to Adam Back tabs are the future of BTC. We are coming up with a business to sell those immutable tabs with a BTC address engraved. Taking pre-orders starting today !

If you are a US citizen who believes in financial freedom, contact your representatives to oppose Senate Bill S.1241

    Posted: 02 Dec 2017 11:13 PM PST

    Link to the bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/1241/text#toc-idea0e9489fc8f46379f95bb56c8bbbda5

    Summary: https://cointelegraph.com/news/us-senate-moves-to-criminalize-non-disclosure-of-cryptocurrency-ownership

    Contact your representatives using https://callyourrep.co/

    Email your representatives using: https://democracy.io

Hell FAX your representatives for FREE using https://faxzero.com/fax_congress.php

I wrote prompt for myself which you may use or use for inspiration:

I am calling you to express my dissatisfaction with

S.1241 - Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing, and Counterfeiting Act of 2017

My dissatisfaction lies in its unfair and frankly reckless treatment of laws regarding digital currencies. This bill "criminalizes Intentional concealment of ownership or control of a [digital currency/exchange] account." The first concern which this statement should raise is how could such a law be enforced? Will the government smash in the doors of every American citizen who has ever purchased Bitcoin or even something as simple as downloaded digital currency software? If someone memorized the seed or password to their digital currency would they be charged with throught crime the likes of which seen in George Orwell's 1984? The recklessness of this statement truly meets no ends. Users of digital currencies would be stripped of their freedom an privacy.

Regardless of your stance towards digital currencies like Bitcoin, if this law were to pass shouldn't we expect dark money in the US dollar to be treated with the same level of militant enforcement? Should the government be able to invade the homes of private citizens in order to raid their mattresses stuffed with CASH. The Panama Papers and Paradise Papers prove that dark money and hidden cash is a major issue in this country.

Don't repeat the Executive Order 6102 which was meant to criminalize the possession of monetary gold by any individual, partnership, association or corporation. America is meant to be the land of the free and the home of the brave, not those scared of doing good old fashioned detective work to solve a crime. Law enforcement shouldn't need sweeping uncontrollable power to perform their duties as they have been done in the past.

I urge you to please oppose Senate bill S.1241 and any others that would stifle and prevent the development of the digital US economy of the future.
