    Disregard flippening; acquire merchants

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 06:51 PM PST

Real victory is in adoption. Focus energy to merchants.

Why better than Visa / PayPal?

    • Same-day settlements vs. 180 days. This. Is. Huge. No charge-backs.
    • PayPal is 3,5% fees. Visa around there too. Bch is less. Even with BitPay.
    • no additional hardware you must rent. Tablet or phone is enough.

Add your own reasons below. Spread the word.

    i-it's an attack!

Please don't let this place turn into a childish meme-fest too

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:11 PM PST

It happens every time BCH goes up. The place somehow devolves into r/bitcoin, minus the censorship. Censorship isn't the only problem with r/bitcoin - the content (or lack thereof) is a huge part of it.

    Please keep things classy, guys.

Someone hacked the account /u/todu which was a mod here to point users to /r/bitcoin

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 11:25 AM PST

More info incoming.... that user account has been deleted.

Edits: Mod logs show the user account /u/todu made many changes to the /r/btc subreddit including but not limited to changing the stylesheet to point to /r/bitcoin, changing automod configurations to remove every single new post no matter what, changed the side bar, heading, title, settings, etc etc.

Rest assured this has been reported to reddit admins. It seems the hacker already deleted that account. I have little faith the admins will be able to help here as they have been very little help in the past with all the troubles from /r/bitcoin mods and users.

Please take the time to report this to reddit admins. They might not care unless they get a lot of people actually reporting the issue. This is unacceptable behavior and should never be condoned.

Any mods reading this: I have changed all permissions of all mods under me to not have configuration access in case you were wondering. My inbox has blown up and I don't have time to look at every single message right now.

    Edit: message from reddit admin:

Looks like one of your mod accounts was compromised. I've locked down their account so they can't do any more damage and reverted everything I could see.

Please check through the modlog in case I missed anything. Now would be a great time for all of you to go here:

    https://www.reddit.com/account-activity

Check that the activity there is legitimate and make sure to scroll down and look to see if you have any apps authorized that you don't recognize and remove those.

Out of an abundance of caution, if concerned, you should change your password here:

    https://www.reddit.com/prefs/update/

make sure you have an updated email address you have access to

    consider setting up 2FA.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

    Cheers!

Edit: Nearly all changes have been reverted or fixed. We are checking everything. Also the hacker changed autmod to remove everything, so unfortunately we have to manually re-approve those to get any legitimate posts/comments to show.

Final edit: I believe everything is back to "normal" now. If you notice something wrong, missing, whatever, please send us mod mail and let us know. Thank you.

They say we are trying to Kill Bitcoin. No, we are not. We are trying to save it, and make it usable for everyone, and everything. Not tomorrow. Not 6 months from now, Not 18 Months from now. NOW. That's what's going on Here.

My favorite response to the Coinbase BCH launch.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:10 AM PST

A lot of new people are coming to this sub and trying to figure out why BCH is the real Bitcoin. Here is an informative post I made earlier that breaks it down with many links and sources.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 04:53 PM PST

Concerned about sudden raise in BCH value.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 10:49 PM PST

    Hi all.

I'm new here (and in general in reddit) so I'm sorry if this post violates some rules - it is not my intention of course.

A couple of weeks ago I've been given a fraction of BCH during an IT event in Portugal. I've noticed that at that time that sum was worth roughly 1$, whilst today it is worth somewhere around 4.80$. This is of course mad for any "real" currency; you simply cannot expect such volatility with euro or pounds, for example.

Don' t you think that this undermines the whole usability of BCH in real scenarios?

If its value continues raising I think it will end up like BTC becoming just a speculation tool and being associated with real scams like "become rich with forex/binary options/horse betting/whatev".

I mean, if I had a business... why should I expect BCH payments if I know that its value is so volatile? Why, would you?

    Meanwhile in R/Bitcoin

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 07:05 PM PST

21% of the trading on GDAX is Bitcoin Cash and they haven't even opened up BCH/EURO or BCH/BTC yet. The purchase and sales on Coinbase are still temporarily disabled. Interesting times we live in.

Buying, trading and sending BTC with 0 fees will soon be a reality for Telegram users.

Bitcoin Core will go down as one of the greatest setups in history.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 06:20 PM PST

Millions of people, billions of dollars. Bitcoin Mania guided directly into the greatest con job in history. All but the 1% locked out of trading their funds. A cruel knife in the heart for millions of befuddled investors forced into a fractal corner. Told that BCH was a scam. That a a libertarian fireworks salesman, a creator fraud and a gambling billionaire with a mutual love of wine were somehow trying to steal their money. That the evil miners must be stopped from scaling bitcoin beyond the reach of the everyman. A full node for all. A huge censorship drive has conned people that the fees are temporary. A result of Bitcoin's superb capacity to act as a 'store of value'. A HODL mentality. Buy the dip reinforced at every turn. The fees are necessary for your security. The Lightning network will make it all work out. Ignore bitcoin cash. That approach won't scale. No developers. It's centralised.

Today, the minimum fee to send a single UTXO is over the total value of more than half of all bitcoin wallets. I don't think it's unreasonable to assume that of the value remaining in the pool, another half is held in UTXOs that fall into this range as well, meaning that imore than 3/4 of all Bitcoins are currently locked in their wallets. Brave the mempool or sit unusable. Over the next few days, that will continue to increase until just a few % of total bitcoin owners can trade their coins. That only the largest UTXOs can move. People asking why will hear 'Don't worry. Just move your coins into a segwit address. It's like greased lightning the fees are so low.' Eventually the network will just collapse. Suddenly the value of a Bitcoin will drop by 40 or even 50% in a day, and miners will jump over to BCH. All of a sudden, it becomes doubly expensive to send a transaction as only half as many are getting through. Three weeks later the difficulty will adjust, but by then the value of a Bitcoin will be so low that the correction algorithm won't correct far enough. The end will come quick, but that won't stop it being bloody.

It will hurt the market a bit but not really. Some people will get burned and run away, but the people who are about to start using Bitcoin Cash know nothing of reddit forums and censorship. They've probably never heard of BTC or lightning and won't give a shit who made Bitcoins. All they will know is that it's easy and it works and it's safe and amazing.

Get ready for the next age of Bitcoin!!!

The "flippenning" isn't a fork, it's btc doing what it was meant to be - circumventing Censorship and centralized control of Money

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 02:29 PM PST

What determines which bitcoin is the "real" bitcoin isn't the majority of mining power as Core tried to tell people, and not even its price. What determines which bitcoin is the real bitcoin is the consensus the users choose to follow out of their self interest out of which emerges decentralization - and that is the true genius of bitcoin anyone who tries to take away doesn't understand.

/u/MemoryDealers, you should reach out to Joe Rogan and see about going on his podcast..

    Posted: 20 Dec 2017 02:59 PM PST

He has an absolutely massive following, he had Andreas on his podcast and has expressed an interest in cryptocurrency. I believe he would love to have you on to talk about Bitcoin Cash. He would also love to talk about libertarian ideas, crazy theories, and whatever else. You two would have a tremendous amount to talk about. I'd love to listen to that conversation and it would be a fantastic way to promote BCH to millions of people.

PSA: If you get an email from me (Roger Ver) asking to borrow BTC, you can be 100% sure it as a scam. If they ask to borrow BCH, it is more plausible, but still a scam.
