Paying my landlord my monthly rent in Litecoin!

    Posted: 22 Apr 2021 12:57 PM PDT

For some context recently I left home as a result of a difficult situation between me and my parents.

I crashed at a friends place until I could find a place to settle down temporarily. I spoke with the father of one of my close friends about the possibility of me renting off of him until I move away next year for university, he was cool with it, only wants $350/month surprisingly!

So I've spoken to him before about crypto in general and done my best job to try to make it all make sense and he is quite interested in the whole concept of peer-to-peer virtual currency. I offered to buy a hardware wallet and teach him how to use it then pay my rent in LTC and he was thrilled by the idea, especially given that he's seen the unrealized gains me and some others have already made off of crypto in general.

I've done a thorough job of explaining the potential risks of this investment and that we're presently in a crypto bull market and we could see substantial drops in the future, but I've also expressed how the vast majority of my money is deep in crypto at this point and that I wholeheartedly believe in the world crypto developers and crypto users are striving towards.

    Gifted Litecoin.dat File

    Posted: 22 Apr 2021 05:28 PM PDT

I'm in a social club that's optimistically planning a gettogether at the end of August. One of my fellow members was recently willed a Litecoin.dat file and he's donated it for the party. I'm new to the cryptocurrency world and have been researching how to access the file. Here's what I've done so far:

    - Downloaded and installed Litecoin Core

    - Stopped Litecoin Core

    - Made copies of the Litecoin.dat file

    - Renamed one of the copies as wallet.dat and copied it over to the \AppData\Roaming\Litecoin\wallets folder

    - Restarted Litecoin Core

Litecoin Core is currently synchronizing with the network and should be done in (only) 16 hours. Did I follow the right procedure? Will we be able to access our friend's deceased friend's wallet after that? No one knows how much (if anything) is in the wallet. I might have totally screwed everything up, too. As I said, I tried researching Litecoin.dat files, but most of my results only referred to the wallet.dat file.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    opening old wallet

    Posted: 22 Apr 2021 12:57 PM PDT

So, I have a wallet.dat file dating back to 2015 - how exactly do I open it today? It seems that the latest Litecoin Core version I downloaded from the site hangs when I try to open it, or at least, it's taking a really long time - I'm already synchronized so that shouldn't be it either. what am I doing wrong here?

Edit: it ended up working, thanks everyone for helping
