Ethereum is at a historic moment. Compare its technicals with Bitcoin.

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 06:21 PM PDT

Ethereum is at a unique junction. There are several major updates pending over the next few months that will make it a deflationary asset, increase transaction rates, and decrease costs. Together, these updates will greatly improve the utility of Ethereum.

Professional traders are no idiots. They see that these upgrades will catalyze demand in the face of slowly diminishing supply. What happens to price? It will go up.

This is not the case for Bitcoin. Costs are high, supply is still going up, and network speed is limited. People prefer to use eth or alt coins for network transactions.

The so called eth killers won't really have a big use case once Eth2 goes live. Why? Just pure market cap alone. And existing dapps and integration into major systems like PayPal, various exchanges, etc. Everyone carries Ethereum.

Now that the roadmap has been solidified, the major traders are seeing that Ethereum is at a discount. Compare Bitcoin and Ethereum side by side over the past two weeks. Bitcoin plummets. Either simultaneously or shortly after, Ethereum gets pumped. Ethereum following or exceeding drops in Bitcoin just isn't happening anymore.

Interestingly, the alt coins are starting to follow trends in Ethereum too. They aren't reacting as much to changes in Bitcoin.

Folks, we had a market correction of about 25% compared to bitcoins ATH. But what about compared to Ethereum? Bitcoin still hovers around 50k. Ethereum is approaching its ATH now.

In my opinion, this is not a bear market. It is an extraordinary sea change in the utility of a specific coin. Bitcoin may have the greatest market share right now, but imagine what will happen if this flippening continues toward Ethereum. What could happen to Ethereum's price point if it takes over bitcoins place?

To be clear, I am not an expert in any of these things. These are just my observations. I am not giving anyone financial advice nor making any recommendations. Do your own research and make up your own mind.

Morphic Studio - The First Decentralized Art Organization?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 11:06 AM PDT

Found a cool project in the works. Here's their description:

It's a white canvas for anyone to draw on, with participants driven & incentivised to collaborate by the tokenomics of The Canvas. I see at as a version of Reddit place with a crypto-native design. In their own words, it's:

The purpose of The Canvas is to show that with the right incentives, communities are able to create high-quality art which others will be able to build on top of. Their long-term aim is to build solutions that

    • Enable large communities to trustlessly collaborate and share earnings on collaborative artwork
    • Earns artists a stable income, not having to live from project-to-project
    • Develop heuristics to determine the minimum value of an artwork

Some of the general use cases they are exploring:

    • Working together on an art piece, without having to know or trust your collaborators to sell the work and share the profits
    • Evidence "cost of creation" for NFTs. There's a lot of discussion around the "true value" of NFTs today, and whilst this will probably always remain a point of discussion (similar with bitcoin), blockchains should help to establish a proof of work to arrive at a minimum price.
    • Seed investing in artists. Supporting artists even before the artworks are released, providing a more stable income to typically unstable profession

This got censored from /r/CryptoCurrency but is an important read: As a Venezuelan, cryptocurrencies are a blessing.

As a Venezuelan, cryptocurrencies are a blessing.

The horrible situation my country is going through is no secret to anyone, nor is the impact cryptocurrencies have had. These are increasingly expanding among different businesses. It is common to see stores accepting BTC, BCH, USDT, BNB, etc, either to buy technological devices such as phones, TVs and other appliances but also basic goods like food, cheese, ham, eggs, meat, and honestly this is extremely useful. One of the biggest problems here is inflation, which makes our local currency useless and we are always looking to have an alternative method of saving like buying dollars or just getting food. It is crazy to keep Bolivares, as inflation eats it up in seconds and this is not an exaggeration. This leads to prices changing every day and there is no way to save money which is a big issue in case of an emergency.

I do not have a large income, like most of my fellow countrymen, but I am passionate about the world of cryptocurrencies to the point that I accepted a job where I receive BTC as a salary. It is a very low amount, however, it is higher than what I would get working in a common job here. I have been saving what I can and it is much better than earning our currency, also is relatively protected against inflation. Last Christmas was better than in previous years because of this, so for that and more I am very thankful. My family really needed a good time for a change.

I would like to make the most of the limited savings I have. I know it won't be much but what are the best ways to generate passive income with what little I have saved? I don't dare to trade due to my lack of knowledge and I would feel like I'm betting my life savings. I can't afford to lose that money but I guess I can do something like a fixed deposit, a loan or any other method that will help me generate a bit more every month.

Is PoS removing decentralization of coins?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 04:38 PM PDT

When mining becomes close to worthelss with CPUs/GPUs and the only one staying are large scale ASIC companies... what is the point of supporting that coin?

The coin becomes centralized around the large scale companies.

    What Is Proof of Staking?

The Proof of Stake (PoS) concept states that a person can mine or validate block transactions according to how many coins they hold

    Hi everyone,

I was wondering if people who hold ETH now will have to do something regarding the upcoming updates on ETH. I, for instance hold some ETH on a Nano Ledger. Do i have to do anything during/before/after the upgrade to ETH 2.0 ?

    Thanks on advance !

Could any Polygon user help me?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 08:40 PM PDT

I'd been using Matic Network the past few days and found It very simple to bridge and interact with contracts inside the Network. Its all beautiful untill I realized that i was left without matic tokens to sign the transactions. I have locked some Tokens in the aave polygon pool. Is there someone who could send me 0,001 of Matic Token? so this way i don't have to pay the Ethereum fee to use the bridge and swap some Tokens and then sign the contract to withdraw my founds from the pool.

Will all dapps need to be rewritten for eth2?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 07:31 PM PDT

I've been trying to find out more information about how eth2 will improve the scalability of eth. With the eth2 white paper, I'm getting closer to the idea that the whole ecosystem would need to be rewritten. Anybody have a clue if this is true? Thanks for your time

Cannot send USDC from Exodus wallet to Coinbase regular acct

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 06:00 PM PDT

Hi guys - I have 169 USDC in my exodus wallet and I cannot seem to figure out how to get those coins back into my coinbase account. It says it needs a small deposit of ether for gas but then it says I can trade a non ethereum coin for ethereum in order to cover the fee but then I fail to meet some sky high minimum amt and I still have no way to move any coins in or out. I'm really frustrated and confused as I am a small time crypto trader with not enough capital to cover these insane minimums. Anyone know how to get these USDC back to coinbase?

Question about Layer 2 Optimism and ZK

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 06:42 AM PDT

Could someone please explain whether Optimism and ZK solutions will be automatically applied to layer 1 as an upgrade or would apps such as Uniswap have to separately launch their services on these solutions such as AAVE have done for with Matic?

Could the principles of yields be applied to help governments move to a stable token?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 09:40 AM PDT

So if I understand this correctly, people have been generating yields by contributing asset A so another party can borrow against it to buy asset B to generate returns and pay off the loan. Would it be feasible to generate a pool so a gov could borrow against it to buy back its currency in exchange for a issuing a stable token (not necessarily their own central bank issued digital currency)?

"Low" mining profitability today, why is that ?

    Posted: 25 Apr 2021 06:39 AM PDT

Please educate me. Ethereum's price seems good today but the profitability as shown on whattomine.com seems fairly low.

Does that mean the difficulty of the network has suddenly increased ?

I'ld love some insight on those particular "events"

    Thanks !
